Cookbook Giveaway: Let Them Eat Vegan!

Well guys, we are getting close to the new release of Let Them Eat Vegan! For those that have been wondering, I will indeed be offering a new “buy-on” promotion (this time it will be a week-long promo, details forthcoming, stay tuned).

For now, I think it’s fine time to start getting excited again, and to celebrate! Don’t you?! To do so, I am offering an early giveaway – to one you! And, yes, this will be one of the newly printed copies of Let Them Eat Vegan. ย So you will have to wait a couple of weeks, but it will be hot off the press!

    I am fairly new to the whole vegan thing and have fallen in love with cooking again because of this new lifestyle. In fact my hubby and kids all pulled together to buy me a food processor for Mother’s day to help me along the way. I would have to say beans of all kinds but especially black and pinto. You can do so many wonderful things with them. I love chick peas too.

    Do you use a lot of tofu in your second book?

      Thanks K! About the soy, no not that much. There are 200+ recipes and of those about 7 or 8 recipes with tofu and another couple with tempeh. I offer soy-free options for some of those as well. You have an allergy, or just not a big tofu fan?

    Like many of the posters before me, I find it SO hard to just pick one, but if you twist my arm and tell me to yell what comes to mind first, I’d have to say broccoli. OR spinach. Anything green.

    My favorite plant powered food is bananas! I know, it’s boring, but when they get really ripe, they are supper delish in oat bran!

    Oh… certainly avocado!!! And my 20 month old vegan boy shares my deep deep lover for this awesome fruit. Avocado can be eaten with almost anything, but one of our favourite deserts is avocado smoothy. Yum, yum indeed.

    One plant-based ingredient that I have started using since becoming vegan is miso! I love its versatility and unique flavor.

    Beans are my favorite. They are so versatile. I buy dry beans, cook them up, and store them in 1/2 cup increments in my freezer. I can substitute 3 packs of the frozen ones (thawed) for a can, puree them and put them in a soup to thicken it up, use thawed ones in casseroles, etc.

    This year, I started loving brussel sprouts…they are delicious!! It’s funny how you grow up not liking something just people that surround you don’t like it! I would have never known brussel sprouts were SO good if I had not tasted them at our office Christmas lunch buffet! MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm

    My favorite plant-powered food is nuts. They are natures delicious treats to us, packed with delicious protein and good fat. I eat either cashews or almonds every day. Not to mention the wonderful products that come out of nuts such as almond milk, almond/peanut/cashew butter. Wonderful!

    It’s so hard to pick one! I love everything that has been mentioned (with the exception of cilantro, which tastes like soap to me). I’ll go with BEETS because they are delicious, healthy, beautiful, and I feel they are an under-loved vegetable. :)

    I am into quinoa, that my girls also love and I find myself adding black beans to everything. But my newest thing is Hemp Seeds, I just discovered this recently and I am trying to use in more meals and treats.

    Since becoming vegan a year ago, I’ve re-discovered foods I ate for a short time when my family went macrobiotic to support my father who had lung cancer. Sadly, his cancer was aggressive he died within a short period of time. But for six months I ate foods I’d never had – seaweed, millet, seitan, tofu, tempeh, miso…and others. Those flavours are now so much more – they carry a memory, a sad one maybe, but as I was young when my father died, any memory I have of him is precious. so, these are my power foods (with the exception of tempeh which I still can’t develop a taste for).

    I’m a big fan! My favourite ingredient these days is shelled hemp seeds, which I discovered thanks to your amazing spicoli burgers. They’re a a constant in our weekly meals!

    Coconut is probably my favorite thing ever. I add it to soaked oats with walnuts, banana, flax seed and almond/coconut milk blend. Delicious!

    My favourite plant powered food is brown rice because you can do almost anything with it. From Asian and Indian meals, to breakfast cereal, to burgers and burritos. It’s the ingredient I use more than any other. I can’t get enough brown rice! :)

    I have lots of favorites but right now I’m training for a half ironman and so it’s yams! Yam fries (baked with coconut oil of course) almost every day… but it changes depending on what my body needs (it was cauliflower a few weeks ago and artichokes after that). Thanks for the new book Dreena, it’s amazing! I would love to win this to pass it on to my girlfriend who is expecting her second baby. She is trying to cut out all the “processed crap” as she puts it.

    Greetings! Being vegan, myself, I have grown to love the sea. Seaweed, Chlorella, Spirulina, Nori, Bladderwrack, etc. I love making my own sushi with brown rice and farmers market cucumbers. :)

    CHICKPEAS!!! Love em! and now that I have mastered making them from a bag rather than opening a can I make them in advance. I then freeze them in ziplock bags so they are ready when I need them to add to a recipe or defrost and eat as they are!

    Wow, there are so many! I love fresh herbs, such as parsley, cilantro, basil.. they add so much taste and nutrients. Another is avocado.. I like avocado with almost anything! And pomegranades.. I’d probably put them on the top of my list!

    A vegan now of 5 months, I’ve found chia seeds as my new go to for everything in recipes ! Converting my Arabic up bringing cuisine is a trail and error with my friends enjoying the results no matter what I think about the outcome ! :) <3 honi

    My new favorite is kale! I have been juicing with it, having it in a salad and just plane loving it in any shape or form. I also use a lot of chia seeds, ground flaxseed and coconut oil lately.

    Almonds! I carry them in my backpack, purse, and keep them in my glove box as “emergency almonds.” This way, I can use them to hold me over until I can get some real food (and prevents me from buying something that wouldn’t really fill me up, anyway.) They also make almond butter, another one of my favorites :)

    Oh my I have so many favorites! But my ultimate plant powered food is quinoa! You can do som many things with it. Salads, stir fry, muffins, burgers etc. it is awesome.

    Love beans. I can make them into burgers, burritos or puree them as a thickener for a veggie casserole. (I’m a bit lazy and mostly use the ones from a can rather than cooking them from dry though)

    I stumbled upon your book, eat, drink and be vegan at my local library and I can’t put it down! I would love to have this book to have for my very own. I’m a new vegan as well as previous gastric bypass patient so all the help I can get is appreciated.

    There are so many that I love but right now I’m really loving raw cacoa powder. I make chocolate smoothies with spinach, bluberries, a banana, dates, flax, cacao powder and some non-dairy milk. I love it and the kids do too!

    My favourite plant-powered food right now is quinoa. I suffer from migraines and this amazing super food makes my brain really calm and happy!     My favorite plant powered food is kale. As a former bacon queen I, for one, wasn’t sure going plant powered would work for me and second, thought that giving up bacon would be like prying a toy from a toddlers hands. I was mistaken! I don’t miss meat, especially bacon, at all! My new bacon is kale. I could eat it all day on everything. I always have it on hand, tear little pieces off and add to whatever I’m eating. Well, maybe not ice cream, but who knows I might like that too!

I love that I can pack a nutrient dense punch into my recipes by adding kale to as many things as I can for my little family! Thanks for the opportunity for us to share.     Just to let you know; this will be the last printed book that I’m going to buy. Physical storage space at my house is very limited and I have almost unlimited space available on my computer so from now on it’s e-books for me.

I like that tangible feel of cookbooks, but I do think the future will all be ebooks, having a monitor in your kitchen to view everything, etc. Thanks for your support – through social media and beyond.
